Refresh and update skills to operate a Freefall Lifeboat during an emergency.
This course is designed for individuals who have already attained the pre-requisite skills and knowledge required for coxswains to safely operate a freefall lifeboat/TEMPSC (Totally Enclosed Motor Propelled Survival Craft) to facilitate a safe evacuation or recovery of personnel.
Please make sure that you check your workplace requirements and select the correct training course before you book. This skills maintenance course does not cover the use of other forms of Lifeboat launch arrangements that are available at ERGT via separate courses.
This course is delivered via in-classroom theory and practical drills, broadly covering:
- Familiarisation of the lifeboat
- Safety attributes within the lifeboat and the use of them
- Practice pre-launch safety checks and procedures
- Boarding arrangements
- Experience the free fall into the water in a safe controlled environment
- Recover the lifeboat
ERGT Australia offers other skills maintenance lifeboat launch arrangements. Available in Perth are Twin Fall Davit Lifeboat and Swing Arm Davit Lifeboat. Our Single Fall Lifeboat training is currently only available at our Melbourne Training Centre.

Structure and Assessment
This course is delivered through classroom presentations, activities and participant discussion as well as practical components within a simulated workplace environment. Assessment is conducted via direct observations & practical exercises.
