ERGT proudly supported the 2021 Mining Emergency Response Competition (MERC) as Gold sponsor. The charity of choice this year was ‘The Blue Tree Project’ whose aim is to help spark difficult conversations and encourage people to speak up when battling with mental health concerns.

MERC brings together teams of emergency responders from within the mining sector. Over the three-day event, these teams were put to the test with a series of challenges based on ‘real-life / work’ emergency scenarios. This year, ERGT designed and facilitated the FIRE scenario with smoke, flames and fireworks drawing a crowd made up of industry supporters, families, and general public.

The first team to complete our scenario was the very first ‘all women’ team to compete at MERC – the Goldfields Combined team.

The industry collectively raised together $53,000 for The Blue Tree Project which will go toward their WA road trip to regional schools. For more see: Charity 2020 – MERC (themerc.com.au)
