Learn How To Provide First Aid
This course is designed for personnel who may be required to provide a first aid response to a range of injuries and medical conditions in a workplace setting.
ERGT practical exercises are conducted in a simulated workplace setting and contextualised with relevant workplace risks, mechanisms of injury and response processes.
This course is intended for all employees who may need to administer first aid in various workplace scenarios. Upon completing the course, participants will be equipped to confidently handle first aid situations and respond effectively to common injuries and medical conditions, including performing CPR and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
Structure and Assessment
This course is delivered through classroom presentations, group discussion and practical exercises. Trainees will demonstrate their competence through written and practical assessment.

The expected learning outcomes for this course are:
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
- Respond to an emergency situation
- Apply appropriate first aid procedures
- Communicate details of the incident
- Review the incident
HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation:
- Respond to an emergency situation
- Perform CPR procedures
- Communicate details of the incident
- Review the incident
Ongoing Maintenance of Skills
In line with industry expectations, ERGT recommends trainees complete skills maintenance training for first aid every three years. Annual refresher of CPR skills and knowledge is
recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC).

The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) is the national regulator for Nationally Recognised Training delivered by Australia’s vocational education and training sector.
Additional Requirements
No medical is required for this course, however trainees do need a degree of physical fitness to be able to complete first aid activities – Trainee must be able to kneel on the floor to
complete CPR.
