Learn how to safely and effectively board a vessel at sea with a rope ladder.
This course is designed for the Australasian Institute of Marine Surveyors (AIMS) members who are authorised officers, marine surveyors, inspectors, engineers, and seafarers who work on International and Australian installations and therefore need to board vessels at approved anchorages.
Trainees will learn about the operations and risks involved in boarding a vessel at sea.

Structure and Assessment
This course is delivered through classroom presentations, group discussion and practical demonstrations and exercises. Trainees will demonstrate their competence through a practical assessment.
Learning Outcomes
The expected learning outcomes of this course are:
- Plan boarding operations
- Carry out pre-boarding operations
- Board vessel with a rope ladder
- Complete post-boarding operations
Enrolment Requirements
In order for ERGT to deliver the course content within the timeframe set it is desirable that course participants attend with the following skills and knowledge:
- Completed company induction training
- Participated in workplace evacuation drills and exercises
- Completed workplace training in hazard and risk identification
A health questionnaire and declaration of fitness will be required at course registration. Please contact ERGT for any concerns regarding completion of practical training and assessment requirements and to discuss options for reasonable adjustments.
Additional Requirements
Please bring towel and bathers for in-water activities.
