Digital Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training

ONLINE & PRACTICAL OPITO Approved Safety Course for Offshore Workplaces

This version of ERGT Australia’s BOSIET training course is delivered through the use of an interactive online learning platform and a day of practical and written assessments at your chosen centre. This blended learning is beneficial to those who have limited time away from their worksite or are restricted to come into our training facility for the full course duration.

The overall course content for the online BOSIET training covers offshore-specific safety induction, helicopter safety and escape, sea survival, firefighting and self-rescue and is essential for personnel who are new to the offshore oil and gas industry, in cold water environment.

Online Components: You would need access to computer with internet to complete the online elements of the course. It allows the trainee to learn at their own pace, progressing through the modules in their own time with the opportunity to stop and restart as required. In total the online module will take approx. 8 hours to complete, with the opportunity to repeat content if desired.

Practical components: It employs the knowledge acquired through the online portal, putting it into practice and developing practical skills before trainees complete their written and practical assessments via attendance at one of ERGT’s training centre within 90 days of completing the online elements.

BOOKING PROCESS: To book the online BOSIET course please choose a date on our website to attend the practical training day. Alternatively, please call the National Sales and Service team for assistance with booking. Upon booking, you will receive two emails:

One, from ERGT with your booking confirmation and joining instructions for the practical training day. The second email from admin@atlasknowledge.com with information on how to log in to the OPITO Digital Portal and complete the online training.

Please note, that you can do the practical training, only upon completion of the online training.

If you are unsure if this is the correct course for you, please check with your employer for specific training requirements for your role or call us if you have any queries before booking online.

Learning Objectives
The objectives of the Online BOSIET course are that trainees will be able to:

  • Identify key offshore related safety regulations and explain the basic safety management concepts
  • Demonstrate, in a simulated environment, that they can use the safety equipment (aviation life jacket, emergency breathing system and aviation transit suit), and follow procedures in preparing for, and during helicopter emergencies – with particular focus on escaping from a helicopter following ditching
  • Demonstrate sea survival and first aid techniques
  •  Demonstrate that they can effectively use basic firefighting equipment, and practice self rescue techniques in low visibility situations, to include smoke filled areas
