OPITO Approved Escape Chute Training for Offshore Workplaces
ERGT Australia’s OPITO Escape Chute training is designed to ensure that workers on offshore facilities and vessels where escape chute is installed, can safely-effectively utilise it in the event of an emergency evacuation. This training certification is internationally recognised, helping workers looking for international offshore jobs.
On completion of the Escape Chute training course, the trainees will have the knowledge of commonly installed escape chutes and the practical skills to use an escape chute.
This training is applicable for those who are already working or intend to work in offshore facilities across Oil & Gas, Maritime, and Aviation industry.
OPITO Escape Chute training can be undertaken in conjunction with OPITO BOSIET, T-BOSIET, FOET or T-FOET without impacting the number of training days. It can also be undertaken as a stand-alone, 2-hour course.
The training certification is valid for 4 years from the date of completion.

Learning Outcomes
The expected learning outcomes are the ability to successfully demonstrate the following:
– Entering the escape chute safely using the correct body posture
– Completing a controlled descent through the escape chute
– Exiting the escape chute correctly onto a collection raft/platform
– On completion of the escape chute descent, clearing the egress point at the base of the escape by moving out of the way of descending personnel

Additional Requirements
A government issued photo identification is required for course registration.
Structure and Assessment
The Escape Chute training course is delivered in a classroom and simulated workplace/industry environment using, hands on practical training exercises and equipment familiarisation. Trainees are only assessed during practical assessments.
Regulator Re-Validation
To maintain this certificate, it is an OPITO requirement to re-validate every 4 years.
