Revisit & Maintain your Fast Rescue Craft Operations Skills | AMSA Approved

This course is designed for personnel and seafarers working on a floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO) and floating storage offloading (FSO) vessels, who need to
maintain their skills in launching, operating and recovering a Fast Rescue Craft. This course is a refresher in Fast Rescue Craft/Boats and is designed for personnel who already hold a STCW endorsement in Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats and require AMSA endorsement.

Learning Outcomes

The following elements outline the key competency outcomes expected by the industry.

This training develops the skills and knowledge required to carry out fast rescue craft operations, including:

  • Maintaining fast rescue craft and preparing both the craft and crew for operations
  • Taking charge of a fast rescue craft during and after launch
  • Responding to emergencies or malfunctions involving the craft, equipment, or crew
  • Locating and retrieving casualties
  • Recovering and securing the fast rescue craft after operations

Work is performed with a degree of independence under broad operational requirements. It requires the ability to take charge of the rescue boat and its crew, ensuring responsibility for both personal and team safety in achieving operational outcomes.

Participants will apply established maritime survival principles and practices for launching and operating fast rescue craft, as well as using related survival equipment. They will also implement established survival strategies and procedures in emergency situations.
