This course is designed for personnel and seafarers working on a floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO) and floating storage offloading (FSO) vessels, who need to
maintain their skills in launching, operating and recovering a Fast Rescue Craft. This course is a refresher in Fast Rescue Craft/Boats and is designed for personnel who already hold a STCW endorsement in Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats and require AMSA endorsement.
Learning Outcomes
The following elements outline the key competency outcomes expected by the industry.
This training develops the skills and knowledge required to carry out fast rescue craft operations, including:
- Maintaining fast rescue craft and preparing both the craft and crew for operations
- Taking charge of a fast rescue craft during and after launch
- Responding to emergencies or malfunctions involving the craft, equipment, or crew
- Locating and retrieving casualties
- Recovering and securing the fast rescue craft after operations
Work is performed with a degree of independence under broad operational requirements. It requires the ability to take charge of the rescue boat and its crew, ensuring responsibility for both personal and team safety in achieving operational outcomes.
Participants will apply established maritime survival principles and practices for launching and operating fast rescue craft, as well as using related survival equipment. They will also implement established survival strategies and procedures in emergency situations.
Training Standard Pre-requisites
Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats as per STCW Table A-VI/2-2 within 5 years
Or
Certificate in Continued Competence for Holders of Certificate of Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats – STCW Code Table A-VI/2-2 within 5 years
Medical and Health Standards
A health questionnaire and declaration of fitness will be required at course registration. Please contact ERGT for any concerns regarding completion of practical training and assessment requirements and to discuss options for reasonable adjustments.
Additional Requirements
Government issued photo identification is required for course registration.
Revalidation
It is an AMSA requirement to successfully revalidate Fast Rescue Craft (STCW Reg VI/2) every 5 years.
Additional Information
Please note: This course is split between two training centers. The first part of the day is conducted at the Perth Training Center in Jandakot, after which trainees will be required to make their own way the Fremantle Training Center to complete the practical components.
