Helideck Operations Perth

Learn how to safely and effectively coordinate helideck operations on offshore installations.

This course is for personnel who are to be appointed to the role of an Offshore Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) and/or Offshore Helideck Assistant (HDA). This course is endorsed by Safer Together and meets Safer Together HLO Training specifications.

PLEASE NOTE: This course is aimed at operational helideck personnel not emergency responders. If personnel are required to work as part of a helideck emergency response team, ERGT recommend Trainees to attend emergency response training. please contact us for further information.

Structure and Assessment

This course is delivered using classroom presentations, activities and discussions. Practical components are delivered within a simulated workplace environment using specialised equipment including a helideck and decommissioned helicopter. Trainees will demonstrate their competence through direct observation, oral &/or written assessment & practical exercises. This course has been endorsed and satisfies the Safer Together HLO Training Specification developed by the Aviation Working Group.

The expected learning outcomes of this course are:

Offshore helideck regulations and guidelines
Helicopter and helideck hazards and management systems
HLO and HDA responsibilities during helicopter landing and departure
Cargo and passenger handling
Communication procedures
HLO and HDA: normally unattended installations
