CONTEXTUALISED TO HIGH RISK WORKPLACES
ERGT Australia’s first aid course is designed for personnel who may be required to provide a first aid response to a range of injuries and medical conditions in a high risk workplace setting.
When conducted at ERGT, practical exercises are conducted in a simulated workplace setting and contextualised with relevant workplace risks, mechanisms of injury and response processes.
Primarily delivered as blended learning, the course is made up of a self-paced online component completed prior to attending, followed by a practical day at an ERGT centre or client site.
* Client Site – The high-risk workplace simulation scenario will be customised as per the site logistics and design.

Structure and Assessment
This course is based on blended delivery including 7 online components each with a learning check quiz at the end. It must be completed prior to attending the practical day. On completion of the online component, attendance on a practical day at ERGT is required. During this day trainees have an opportunity to practice their skills in simulated workplace scenarios accompanied by written and practical assessments. The practical day must be completed within 30 days of completing the online component.
Duration
4 – 5 hours online prior to attending and 1 day practical / assessment at an ERGT Training Centre.
Learning Outcomes
The expected learning outcomes for this course are:
HLTAID011 Provide first aid
- Respond to an emergency situation
- Apply appropriate first aid procedures
- Communicate details of the incident
- Review the incident
HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation:
- Respond to an emergency situation
- Perform CPR procedures
- Communicate details of the incident
- Review the incident
Skills Maintenance
In line with industry expectations, ERGT recommends trainees complete skills maintenance training for first aid every three years. Annual refresher of CPR skills and knowledge is recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC).
Authority Regulator
Nationally Recognised Training is regulated by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), which is the national regulator for Australia’s vocational education and training sector.
Additional Requirements
No medical is required for this course, however trainees do need a degree of physical fitness to be able to complete first aid activities – including kneeling on the floor to provide CPR.
Additional Information
The online component requires a device with internet connection and is best completed in a quiet, distraction free environment. As the videos have audio content, computer speakers or headphones are required.
