The Applied Safety Worker Skills Maintenance course at ERGT Australia is designed for workers who are required refresh and maintain their skills for safe workplace performance. This 1-day course focuses on reinforcing skills obtained from previously obtained skills in Work safely at heights, Gas test atmospheres, and Enter and work in confined spaces. Learners will demonstrate there practical capability, review current procedures, and apply their knowledge in realistic workplace scenarios.

Upon successful completion learners will be issued with a Certificate of Currency in:
Confined Space Entry
Gas Testing
Working at Heights
Review of safe work practices and responsibilities
Confined space entry procedures and hazard management
Gas testing of atmospheres and use of detection equipment
Working at heights principles, equipment, and fall prevention systems
Practical skills maintenance exercises in controlled environments
Assessment activities confirming competence across all required units

This course is delivered through a blend of:

Facilitator-led classroom sessions reviewing safety-critical knowledge.

Hands-on practice in confined space entry, working at heights, and gas testing.

Scenario-based activities that simulate realistic workplace and emergency conditions.

The Applied Safety Worker Skills Maintenance course is a 1-day course designed for workers in high-risk industries who need to maintain their capability in key safety-critical tasks. This training is suited to operational personnel, contractors, and others working in environments where skills maintenance is a compliance or site requirement.

It is recommended that learners undertaking this course hold these units of competency or there equivalent:

MSMWHS217 Gas test atmospheres

RIIWHS204D Work safely at heights

MSMPER205 Enter confined space or RIIWHS202D Enter and work in confined spaces

OR completion of an ERGT-approved Applied Safety Worker Skills Maintenance course.

Learners must also be physically capable of performing tasks such as climbing, working in confined spaces, and handling equipment in realistic environments.

Learners must have basic Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital (LLND) skills to understand safety procedures and complete assessments. Learners must be able to access and navigate a digital device to log in and access the course materials. Support for leaners is available on request. More information is available on our website.

Prerequisites

Government issued photo identification
Protective Clothing & Footwear – For courses with practical components, overalls/long pants and safety boots must be worn. If you don’t have your own, ERGT can provide these for you on the day.
Health & Fitness:
A medical certificate is not required for this course; however, a health questionnaire and declaration of fitness will be required at course registration. Please contact ERGT for any concerns regarding completion of practical training and assessment requirements.

Free Parking at all ERGT facilities
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – Any additional PPE required for your course will be supplied by ERGT on the day.
Lunch for Full-Day Courses – Lunch is provided. Please let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you have any allergies or specific dietary requirements.
