Course Overview

Learn how to provide first aid and CPR with our Provide First Aid course, delivered at ERGT with blended delivery methods that includes prior online learning and one-day of practical face-to-face training.

The Provide First Aid Blended Delivery course builds the skills and confidence you need to respond to medical emergencies, from common injuries to life-threatening situations requiring CPR. Whether at work, on site, or in the community, this training equips you to act quickly and effectively when it matters most.

Delivered at ERGT Australia, the course combines the completion of prior online learning with 1-day of face-to-face practical training, ensuring both flexibility and a hands-on training experience. On completion, you will achieve two nationally recognised outcomes:

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Learners must also be able to meet the physical requirements, including kneeling and delivering CPR on the ground.

Upon successful completion learners will be issued with a Statement of Attainment in:
HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
First responder actions and scene safety
CPR for adults and infants
Use of AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
Bleeding control, burns, fractures, and medical conditions (e.g. asthma, diabetes)
Workplace reporting and documentation

This course is delivered through a blend of:

Online self-paced learning component, approximately 4 hours, covering theory, first aid principles, and CPR knowledge.

1-day facilitator-led classroom sessions to review key theory concepts and clarify learner questions.

Hands-on practical training during a 1-day face-to-face session, applying first aid and CPR skills in realistic scenarios.

Performance-based assessments to confirm competence in first aid response, CPR, and safe emergency practices.
The Provide First Aid Blended Delivery course is designed for people across all industries, workplaces, and community settings who may be required to respond to medical emergencies and provide life-saving care. It is suitable for workers, supervisors, and individuals seeking nationally recognised skills in first aid and CPR.

Training is delivered through a blended training that combines online learning with 1-day of face-to-face practical training at ERGT Australia. This approach makes it flexible while still ensuring learners build confidence through hands-on practice.

Learners must be physically capable of performing CPR on the floor for at least two minutes and able to take part in practical activities that involve kneeling, bending, and role play scenarios.

Learners must have basic Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital (LLND) skills to understand safety procedures and complete assessments. Learners must be able to access and navigate a digital device to log in and access the course materials. Support for leaners is available on request. More information is available on our website.

Prerequisites

There are no pre-requisites from the training standard for this course.

Government issued photo identification
Protective Clothing & Footwear – For courses with practical components, overalls/long pants and safety boots must be worn. If you don’t have your own, ERGT can provide these for you on the day.
Unique Student Identifier (USI):
You are enrolling in a Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) course.
A Unique Student Identifier (USI) must be provided and verified for NRT. Please refer to http://www.usi.gov.au to create a USI. It is strongly recommended that you grant ERGT permission to access your USI transcript to assist with verification.
ERGT is prohibited by law to issue a Statement of Attainment without a verified USI.
A USI must be provided and verified within 30 days of course completion otherwise an alternative non NRT certificate will be issued.
Online Learning:
It is recommended that trainees have completed the online learning component prior to their face-to-face practical training day at ERGT.
Health & Fitness:
A medical certificate is not required for this course, however trainees do need a degree of physical fitness to be able to complete first aid activities – including kneeling on the floor to provide CPR. A health questionnaire and declaration of fitness will be required at course registration, please contact ERGT for any concerns regarding completion of practical training and assessment requirements.

What to expect

Free Parking at all ERGT facilities
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – Any additional PPE required for your course will be supplied by ERGT on the day.
Lunch for Full-Day Courses – Lunch is provided. Please let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you have any allergies or specific dietary requirements.
