Course Overview
The Industry Safety Induction (ISI) is a one-day course that prepares new industry entrants to work safely in oil and gas exploration and production facilities across WA, NT, and QLD. This course covers the safety expectations, legislative requirements, and industry standards that apply to all personnel and contractors before they commence work on any onshore or offshore oil and gas facility.

The Industry Safety Induction course at ERGT Australia is delivered under licence to Safer Together the natural gas exploration and production industry's collaborative safety initiative. This means learners receive nationally consistent, industry-endorsed safety knowledge that is recognised across the sector. By the end of the course, learners will understand the key hazards and risks present in oil and gas operations, know their roles and responsibilities as safety leaders, and be equipped to apply common risk management tools in day-to-day work.
The course is delivered over one day through a blend of facilitator-led sessions, interactive discussions, scenario-based learning, and case studies drawn from real operational environments. Knowledge assessments confirm understanding of safety requirements before course completion.

- The main locations and activities associated with the Natural Gas Exploration and Production Industry
- The tools and systems used by the industry to help manage risk
- Their roles and responsibilities as safety leaders within the Industry
- The expectations the Industry places upon workers, with regard to safety, conduct and behaviour
- Ability to recognise:
- The primary hazards and risks found within the industry
- Factors that influence their perception of risk and decision making around risk
- Behaviour and conduct that may compromise their safety and the safety of others
- Ability to:
- Apply common industry risk management tools and strategies including safety conversations, intervening and stopping the job
