• The Manage Incident Response Information course includes:

This course is delivered through a blend of:

• Facilitator-led classroom sessions introducing incident management frameworks, information management principles, and workplace requirements.
• Group-based exercises to practise information collection, coordination, and communication within a simulated incident command structure.
• Scenario-based activities replicating workplace incident response environments, requiring learners to apply information management skills under realistic conditions.
• Individual and group assessments including a knowledge assessment and practical scenario-based assessment confirming competence against the requirements of PMAOMIR322 Manage incident response information.

The Manage Incident Response Information Team Member course is designed for workers in safety-critical industries including resources, oil and gas, and maritime who are responsible for, or are developing responsibility for, managing information during an incident as part of an incident command team. It is particularly suited to technical specialists, operations personnel, safety officers, and others who work in liaison with incident commanders, control room operators, and emergency response team members, and whose role requires them to coordinate and communicate critical incident data during a response.
Learners who will get the most from this course will typically have some exposure to workplace emergency response arrangements, such as participation in site drills or exercises, familiarity with site emergency response plans, or experience in an incident response team member role. Familiarity with the organisation's safety case or workplace regulatory framework is also advantageous. This prior context supports a more effective and applied learning experience, though it is not a formal entry requirement.
This course is suitable for both new entrants to the incident management function and experienced personnel refreshing their skills. No prior nationally recognised training is required.
Learners must have basic Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital (LLND) skills sufficient to understand safety procedures, participate in group exercises, and complete knowledge and practical assessments. Participation Requirements

Physical Requirements

This is primarily a classroom and scenario-based course with no significant physical practical components. Learners must be able to participate in facilitated sessions and group exercises over two full days, which includes sustained periods of sitting, discussion, and desk-based activity. A medical certificate is not required; however, a health questionnaire and declaration of fitness must be completed at registration.

Psychological and Emotional Demands

This course involves working through simulated incident scenarios that require sustained information management under time pressure and in conditions of uncertainty. Learners should be prepared to:

• Manage competing information streams and make rapid judgements about the relevance, accuracy, and priority of incoming incident data during scenario exercises.
• Communicate under pressure with other team members and a simulated incident commander, including in scenarios where the incident is escalating or information is incomplete.
• Receive and apply feedback on information management performance during post-exercise debriefs, including identifying and discussing areas for improvement.
