Course Overview

The Safer Together Frontline Leadership Training Program is a 2-day program developed by Safer Together and delivered by ERGT Australia on behalf of Safer Together.

This course is designed to help new frontline leaders make the transition from individual contributor to effective safety leader, one of the most significant steps in any leadership career.

The Safer Together Frontline Leadership Training Program at ERGT Australia is built by industry, for industry. It is aligned with the Safer Together Safety Culture Framework and is independent of any single organisation's policies, procedures, or leadership model, making it applicable across any oil and gas company or contract partner. Through group discussion, scenario-based activities, and practical exercises, participants develop the leadership behaviours and skills needed to lead their teams safely and confidently from day one.

By the end of the program, each learner will have produced their own Leadership Action Plan, a practical, workplace-ready tool they can implement immediately on return to site.

  • ERGT Australia provides administrative and hosting support for the program.
  • No prerequisites or medical requirements apply.

Learning Objectives

  • By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
  • Understand what is required of a frontline leader in the Australian Energy Production Industry and how different this is from being an individual contributor
  • Have the basic skills necessary to start their leadership journey
  • Have developed their own Leadership Action Plan to be implemented at their workplace

Prior Skills & Knowledge

Prior to attending this program, learners are expected to have a discussion with their line manager to:

·       Understand the line manager’s own experience transitioning from an individual contributor to a frontline leader; and

·       Clarify what the line manager expects the participant to gain from the program.

Learners should ask and discuss the following questions with their line manager:

·       What do you believe are the characteristics of a highly effective frontline leader, and why?

·       Which of these characteristics did you have to work hardest to develop?

·       What is the most important piece of leadership advice you have ever received?

·       Do you have any advice for me as I prepare to attend this program?
