AIIMS Awareness

• Introduction to AIIMS and its purpose
• AIIMS principles and core concepts
• Incident management structures and functions
• Roles, responsibilities, and common terminology
• Applying AIIMS concepts to workplace and community risk management

This course is delivered through a blend of:

• Facilitator-led classroom sessions introducing AIIMS principles and concepts

• Guided discussions linking AIIMS to real-world workplace and community scenarios

• Scenario-based learning activities to support practical understanding

• Knowledge checks and assessment activities to confirm learning outcomes

This half day AIIMS Awareness course is designed for learners who require a foundational understanding of incident management principles. 

This course is suitable for learners working in industry, emergency support roles, government, contractors, volunteers, or community groups who may be involved in, or impacted by, incidents or emergencies. It is also appropriate for community members seeking to understand how AIIMS concepts can be applied to managing risk in their environment.

The course is entry-level and does not require prior incident management training. Learners may benefit from prior exposure to workplace safety, emergency procedures, or organisational risk management; however, no prior learning is required. Training is delivered by ERGT Australia, with outcomes aligned to the 22611VIC Course in Awareness of the Australasian Inter-service Incident Management System (AIIMS), issued under the relevant regulator framework.

Learners must have basic Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital (LLND) skills to understand safety procedures and complete assessments.
