Course Overview

AIIMS Principles provides training in how the Australasian Inter-service Incident Management System is used to manage incidents using shared structures, roles, and principles across organisations.

The AIIMS Principles course provides learners with a clear understanding of the principles that underpin effective, coordinated incident management across a wide range of emergency and operational contexts.

Completed over 2-days, the course explains how AIIMS supports scalable, flexible, and interoperable incident management. Learners gain insight into how incidents are controlled, coordinated, and supported through defined functional roles, shared terminology, and structured decision-making. Learners are recommended to have prior experience in emergency response or incident management environments to gain maximum value from the training.
