The Drive Vehicles under Operational Conditions course at ERGT Australia provides essential skills for operating vehicles in dynamic and high-risk environments. Designed for learners working in emergency response, resources, maritime, or related industries, this training helps learners drive safely and effectively while meeting the demands of operational roles.

Upon successful completion learners will be issued with a Statement of Attainment in:
PUAVEH001 Drive vehicles under operational conditions
Vehicle preparation and pre-operational checks.
Hazard identification and risk management while driving.
Techniques for safe driving in operational environments
Emergency response procedures and contingency planning.
Reporting and documentation requirements for vehicle use

This course is delivered through a blend of:

Facilitator-led classroom sessions to introduce vehicle safety requirements, operational procedures, and workplace driving standards.

Practical driver training using vehicles in controlled environments to develop safe driving techniques and operational awareness.

Scenario-based exercises that replicate real workplace conditions, including navigating obstacles, responding to hazards, and managing vehicles under pressure.

Performance-based assessments to confirm competence in driving vehicles safely and effectively under operational conditions.
This 1-day Drive Vehicles under Operational Conditions course is designed for people working in industries such as Oil and Gas, Maritime, Resources, and Emergency Response where safe driving is critical to operational safety. It is suitable for learners with little to moderate experience who need to demonstrate competency in vehicle operation as part of their role.

Learners must have the physical capacity to undertake practical driving tasks and meet workplace fitness requirements. There are no training prerequisites for this course; however, learners are required to hold a current Australian driver’s licence.

Learners must have basic Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital (LLND) skills to understand safety procedures and complete assessments. Learners must be able to access and navigate a digital device to log in and access the course materials. Support for leaners is available on request. More information is available on our website.

Learning Objectives

Monitor traffic, road and terrain under operational conditions

Prerequisites

There are no pre-requisites from the training standard for this course.

A current Australian driving licence
A copy of your current Australian driving licence front and Back
Protective Clothing & Footwear – For courses with practical components, overalls/long pants and safety boots must be worn. If you don’t have your own, ERGT can provide these for you on the day.
Learners will undergo a Breath Alcohol Content test prior to driving vehicles and will be expected to record a 0.000 reading.
Unique Student Identifier (USI):
You are enrolling in a Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) course.
A Unique Student Identifier (USI) must be provided and verified for NRT. Please refer to http://www.usi.gov.au to create a USI. It is strongly recommended that you grant ERGT permission to access your USI transcript to assist with verification.
ERGT is prohibited by law to issue a Statement of Attainment without a verified USI.
A USI must be provided and verified within 30 days of course completion otherwise an alternative non NRT certificate will be issued.
Health & Fitness:
A medical certificate is not required for this course; however, a health questionnaire and declaration of fitness will be required at course registration. Please contact ERGT for any concerns regarding completion of practical training and assessment requirements.
